An arena harrow loosens, levels and pulls back material that has migrated toward the fence. Without it the surface packs, tracks get deep and the horse gets a footing that swings between hard and loose.
Hagen Design manufactures the arena harrows in its own workshop in Sweden. They are part of Sport Surface Group's range. Price and measurements are listed on each model.
Towed or three-point hitch
Towed arena harrows couple behind the towing vehicle. They come in 150 and 200 cm for fibre sand, sand and wood chips, and as an S-tine model in 150 and 200 cm for sand, wood chips, stone dust and waxed footing.
A three-point hitch mounts on the tractor lift. The 200 and 240 cm models are specified for all surfaces. The harrow mat with three-point hitch has a working width of 2.1 metres and also suits all surfaces.
Choose by footing
Fibre sand, sand and wood chips are maintained with harrow tines. S-tines work deeper in sand, stone dust and waxed footing. Rake tines are an option and spread material, especially on fibre sand.
Standard includes adjustable tines, a sprung levelling board and a rib roller at the rear. The S-tine model has two or three rows of S-tines.
Width and options
150 cm is enough on smaller areas and where turning space is tight. 200 and 240 cm cover more per pass on a full-size arena.
Fence scraper, side wheels, net roller, hydraulic pump and electric ram are chosen for how you drive and how the arena is built. What is included and what it costs is on each product page.
How the harrow is used
Set the tines and levelling board before you drive, and keep an even pattern so the surface is the same across the arena. The instruction film shows setup and driving for both a towed harrow and a three-point hitch.

Common questions about arena harrows
Which arena harrow should I choose?
Start with the footing and how you pull the harrow. Towed 150 or 200 cm suits fibre sand, sand and wood chips. S-tines suit sand, wood chips, stone dust and waxed footing. Three-point hitch in 200 or 240 cm is specified for all surfaces.
Are the arena harrows made in Sweden?
Yes. Hagen Design manufactures them in its own workshop. Hagen Design is part of Sport Surface Group.
What is included with an arena harrow?
Standard includes adjustable harrow tines or S-tines, a sprung levelling board and a rib roller. Rake tines, fence scraper, side wheels and lift by pump or electric ram are options on the models where they are offered.
How often should you harrow a riding arena?
Often enough that the surface is levelled before the tracks set. On an arena used every day, harrowing belongs with manure pickup and the right moisture.
